We send money, not kibble. Shelters put it where it's needed that week: food, vaccines, spay and neuter, a vet bill.

Meet the cat

Fezzik

Before we adopted Albert, we heard about this cool Maine Coon named Fezzik. He has a strikingly sweet personality–he owns his space and gives big brother vibes. Because of his lovely personality, we decided to adopt a Maine Coon of our own, Albert. Fezzik has a sister who is blind, but he’s a good big brother and has taught her the ways of life.

The coffee on this page is named after Fezzik.

The coffee

What it tastes like.

Before there was Fezzik, there was The Original Sydney. A light roast coffee from Brazil. Why did we add a medium roast? While we loved the flavor of the Sydney, our customers told us that it “didn’t hold up to cream”. We drink black coffee, what do we know about cream? :) So we roasted it a little darker, and voila! The crowd pleaser, Fezzik was born! This roast emphasizes the coffee’s nuttiness and natural body, so if you enjoy a rich coffee that goes down easy, this one's for you.

You'll like it if
you take yours with cream and want a rich, nutty coffee that goes down easy.
Maybe not if
you're chasing bright, fruity notes.

Getting it right

How we'd brew Fezzik.

Our philosophy? If it tastes good, it is good. These are some of our guidelines for how to get a great cup, but don't treat them as gospel. Treat them as a suggestion.

  • We'd start hereDrip

Add medium grounds to the machine's filter basket, fill the reservoir with cold water, and hit start. The machine heats the water and drips it through the bed automatically, usually in about 5 minutes. If brew time is too fast, grind finer or add more grounds.

  • Pour Over

Place a filter in the cone, make sure to pre-wet the filter. Add medium-fine grounds, and wet them with a small amount of hot water to bloom for 30 seconds. Pour the rest of the water in slow, spiraling circles over 2–3 minutes and let it drain through.

  • French Press

Add medium-coarse ground coffee to the carafe, pour in hot water (around 200°F), and stir. Let it steep for about 4-6 minutes, then press the plunger down slowly and serve right away. Grind finer for more strength.

Start with 1 oz of coffee per 20 oz of near-boiling water

Too weak
Add coffee before you add time. Longer brewing makes it bitter, not stronger.
Too bitter
Grind a little coarser, or let the water sit thirty seconds after it boils.
