This bag feeds a shelter cat for 7 days. per bag

We send money, not kibble. Shelters put it where it's needed that week: food, vaccines, spay and neuter, a vet bill.

Every order this month supports Freeman-Fritts Vet Clinic & Shelter.

Meet the cat

Skye

We adopted Skye ten years ago at a local shelter during their free adoption event. She immediately caught my family's attention with her beautiful coat and thumbs on her front paws. Which apparently that's the reason why no one would adopt her or her bonded sister because of Skye's "strange paws." Her name comes from her ability to jump really high, or rather Skye High. Skye's main nickname or what everyone calls her is simply Skye Kitty.

The coffee on this page is named after Skye.

The coffee

What it tastes like.

Our seasonal fall light roast coffee boasts deliciously fragrant notes of cranberry, brown sugar, and nougat. This single origin is a Don Claudio Costa Rica. Costa Rica takes pride in only producing high quality specialty grade coffees--one of the only countries that can claim this fact.

Don Claudio comes from Coopeagri, which is a farm collective of small to mid-sized farms. This collective is fanatical about producing only high end coffees that are noticeably delicious with unique tasting notes. This coffee is worth waking up to on a chilly fall morning.

You'll like it if
you want a cozy fall cup with cranberry and brown sugar sweetness.
Maybe not if
you're after a heavy, smoky roast.

Getting it right

How we'd brew Skye.

Our philosophy? If it tastes good, it is good. These are some of our guidelines for how to get a great cup, but don't treat them as gospel. Treat them as a suggestion.

  • We'd start hereDrip

Add medium grounds to the machine's filter basket, fill the reservoir with cold water, and hit start. The machine heats the water and drips it through the bed automatically, usually in about 5 minutes. If brew time is too fast, grind finer or add more grounds.

  • French Press

Add medium-coarse ground coffee to the carafe, pour in hot water (around 200°F), and stir. Let it steep for about 4-6 minutes, then press the plunger down slowly and serve right away. Grind finer for more strength.

  • Pour Over

Place a filter in the cone, make sure to pre-wet the filter. Add medium-fine grounds, and wet them with a small amount of hot water to bloom for 30 seconds. Pour the rest of the water in slow, spiraling circles over 2–3 minutes and let it drain through.

Start with 1 oz of coffee per 20 oz of near-boiling water

Too weak
Add coffee before you add time. Longer brewing makes it bitter, not stronger.
Too bitter
Grind a little coarser, or let the water sit thirty seconds after it boils.
